If you're a wine drinker and you’re trying to reduce or limit your alcohol consumption, it's important to actually know how many "drinks" are in a bottle of wine. By becoming more aware of a beverage's alcohol content, you can better keep track of your own alcohol intake, too.
What's in a Wine Bottle
A typical 25-ounce (750 ml) bottle of table wine holds about 5 standard drinks, each containing about 5 ounces. A typical serving of wine is about 12% alcohol by volume (ABV), though this can range and is something to be cognizant of. A 5 ounce serving of 12% ABV wine contains about the same amount of alcohol as a 12-ounce regular beer with 5%ABV, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof spirits.
