How is mindfulness related to acceptance?

Mindful acceptance is about being open to your present experience in a non-judgmental way. Confidant Health is committed to aid your journey towards mindful acceptance. Read about it here.

Mindfulness is a useful tool that helps you come to terms with the parts of your life that are difficult to accept. A study on Mindfulness and Acceptance conducted by the  American Psychological Association suggests this is because mindfulness teaches you how to notice experiences in the present moment.

When you focus more on the present and less on the past or future, acceptance becomes more comfortable. Mindful acceptance is about being open to your present experience in a non-judgmental way.

Understanding the Importance of Acceptance

Masking pain can lead to an emotional and mental struggle. For example, in some circumstances, it is better to acknowledge pain by sitting and feeling it.

Once you feel it, you can label it by stating, "I am in pain." That acceptance allows you to make an informed choice about what actions to take next. For example, instead of masking your pain with substances, you can choose to visit a doctor or see a specialist for proper treatment and maybe cure it permanently.

Acceptance won't necessarily fix all the issues or problems in your life, but it gives you the space to deal with them in a healthier way.
